Description

In a crystal clear moonlit night of November winter stars rise above Zagros mountains in central Iran, near the town of Kashan. Sirius, the brightest star in the entire night sky, is in the middle, while prominent constellation of Orion stands above it. Another bright star in the view is Procyon on the left. Move the slider on the image to see the annotated image. As noted by the photographer “This image is made from 3600-meter high Mount Gargash which has exceptional seeing and atmospheric transparency for astronomical observation. To the east there is no major light pollution because beyond this mountain range Iran central desert begins.” © Babak Tafreshi
