Tibetan Skyscape

From the photographer: “When the evening twilight was fading to darkness above Tibet, this panoramic image captured the starry sky above Laigu Glacier in Tibet, on the roof of the world. The central bulge of the Milky Way galaxy in the constellations Scorpius shine brightly against the waxing crescent moon in the middle. The pale of red cast near the horizon on the left is airglow. The fading twilight appears just above the Laigu Glacier on the right. Laigu Glacier is a joint name of a group of glaciers located in Qamdo Prefecture, Tibet. It is one of the three largest glaciers in the world. The word Laigu (the name of the nearby village) means a hidden village of idyllic beauty in Tibetan.” © Jeff Dai
