Poet and Photographer
Description
In a cold night of Alborz Mountains, the constellation Perseus and the Pleiades star cluster rise above Yush traditional village in Mazandaran, Iran. The photographer is posing in front of the historic house of Nima Yushij (1896 – 1960), the father of modern Persian poetry. The tomb of the famous poet is in the yard of this fatherhood house. The photographer was inspired to take this image because of a Nima’s poem about a cold winter night of village “The furnace of the sun too, Burns not like the hot hearth of my lamp, And no lamp is luminous as mine, Neither it freezes by the cold moon that shines above…” (Translation by M. Alexandrian).
