Description

In a starry night of Chiloé Island of Chile in the Pacific Ocean the constellation Orion, the Hunter, is photographed in its upside down southern figure above one of the World Heritage monuments of the island. The arrival of the Spanish and Jesuit missionaries starting in the 16th century resulted in the construction of hundreds of small wooden churches in an attempt to convert local residents to Christianity. These unique buildings have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island was also visited by Darwin in 1834.
