Description

As the Moon rises in this foggy night of Sweden an interesting atmospheric phenomenon known as the Fog bow appears on the other side of this panoramic view. Note the stars of Big Dipper (the prominent part of the Ursa Major) near the image center (north direction). Fog bow is similar to rainbow, but because of the very small size of water droplets that cause fog, the fog bow usually has no colors and appears white (they are sometimes called white rainbows). Besides lunar fog bow the phenomenon can be created by the sunlight or an artificial light when condition is favorable.
