Milky Way Above Uluru
Description
Spectacular view of the Milky Way, towards the galactic center, rising above the Australia’s most recognizable landform in silhouette. The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park; a World Heritage Site in the Northern Territory is best known for Uluru or the Ayers Rock, a sacred site of aboriginal culture. About 3.6 km long, the rock is an inselberg or island mountain in geology. It extends about 5 km beneath the desert and rises 348 meters above the plain. Bright star Antares at the heart of celestial Scorpion and planet Saturn appear high in the sky. See the second the image for another view taken earlier in twilight.

Great image of the rising galaxy over Uluru. I have to visit “The Rock” one night soon and try to capture the Milky Way as you have done. It was interesting to meet you at the AstroFest in Parkes, Australia some months back. I enjoyed your presentations. Regards, Geoff.
