Description

Stars and the moon trail during the lunar eclipse of 15 June 2011. The wide-angle view has captured the eclipse in a sequence of short exposure digital images to create this startrail image that shows 100 minutes of totality and part of the partial eclipse at both sides. The startrail shows how the bright moon has gradually fainted to a red disc during the mid-eclipse. Click on the second photo to see a creative composite result from the same sequence. It includes a brighter superimposed image of the mid-eclipse which shows the red eclipsed moon in the Milky Way.
