Description

In a clear evening of late August two spectacular atmospheric phenomena put on a show over the northern coast of Scotland. Colorful aurora borealis and the Noctilucent or night-shining clouds (NLCs) appear in these timelapse video scenes. From the photographer: “I drove 300km to find a clear spot last night to get clear skies and was rewarded by both aurora and NLCs! This location known as the Dunnet Head is the most northerly point of the Great Britain mainland at about 58.7 degrees north. I wanted to image Auroras over the famous Castle of Mey in this area but the Prince of Wales was visiting the castle and I couldn’t approach the place due to the securities.”
