Description

This simple question has remained a mystery for more than three centuries now, since we learned about similarities of Mars and Earth in the late 18th century. Captured this scene on one of my imaging assignments for European Southern Observatory (ESO), on ALMA radio telescopes on Chajnantor plateau of the Andes, an array of 66 movable giant dishes that explore the universe. Here one of them was isolated against the southern Milky Way. This is one of the world’s highest observatories, at 5000 meters.
