Description

The northern lights (aurora borealis) is arched above southern Greenland. Visible straight through the center of the aurora is the Big Dipper (a prominent figure in the constellation Ursa Major). On the Earth the Qaleraliq Glacier is visible in the background. From the photographer: “The images are made during our Shelios 2012 aurora expedition.”
