Description

The 3400-meter high Fitz Roy is a truly spectacular mountain on the border of Argentina with Chile, in Patagonia. The highlight of this 13-km return hike with heavy photo gears was indeed the moonrise on the granite face of the mountain, sometime after midnight when the dark night in Los Glaciares National Park of Argentina began to change. It reveals how dramatic is a midnight moonrise in a naturally dark night away from light pollution. Also visible in the scenes are bright planets Venus and Jupiter in the long spring twilight of this high latitude at 50° south. The soundtrack “Enlighten” is by composer Barbad Bayat, performed by Prague Metropolitan Orchestra; a part of our developing project Celestial Orchestra.
