Description

When aurora is in storm level it’s a symphony of colors, patterns, and random forms. On this night in late March the Northern Lights were so bright that my exposure for this image was only one second! Photographed from Hraunfossar waterfalls, streaming out of lava field into the Hvítá river in Iceland. A great end to my annual aurora photo workshop. If you wonder where and when to see the northern and southern lights, read my National Geographic online article “7 Magical Places to View Auroras”.
