Winter vs. Summer

A small lake in this thick forest makes a natural window to the sky. Compare the winter and summer sky here, where the brighter part of the Milky Way (towards the galactic center) appears in summer nights. We look to outer fainter side of the Milky Way in winter night but the sky is decorated with plenty of bright stars. Click on the second photo to see a larger image of the winter side.
