Description

Small but prominent southern constellation Crux, or the Southern Cross, appears from Mauna Kea mountain on Hawaii’s Big Island. Bright stars Alpha and Beta Centauri appear to the left. From this tropical northern latitude (about 20°N) these southern stars appear few egress above the horizon. Click on the second photo to see a creative image of the Southern Cross by the TWAN photographer. The camera is rotated around its optical axis during the exposure.
