Description

A photo composite of multiple exposures. From the photographer: “On the 26th of July, I found myself in Drymonas for the 17th Panhellenic Expedition of Amateur Astronomers—an event I had been searching for over the years but never had the chance to attend. The extreme heat wave of those days had also affected the area, despite being at an altitude of 1,200 meters.

As the sun began to set and temperatures dropped, I left the main area of the event to explore the surroundings for potential compositions. Once I found a spot, I decided to stay there until twilight in order to capture the rising Milky Way. Despite the high altitude and the distance from nearby cities, the light pollution was surprisingly intense and significantly impacted the final results.

Later on, we returned to the main event area, where the best part of the evening was unfolding. For the next couple of hours, we had the opportunity to observe the uranography presented by an amateur astronomer. During those hours, we felt rewarded, and the heat and earlier struggles were quickly forgotten.”
