Totality on Polaroid
Description
Multiple exposure on a single frame, shot with a Polaroid 195 camera on Polaroid 664 film.
While a few digital images were captured, the primary focus of the eclipse was this specific Polaroid project.
Observing the eclipse was a surreal experience, particularly due to its proximity to the horizon. The “Moon illusion” made the solar disc appear gigantic, and this low elevation was the primary reason this specific eclipse was selected for the Polaroid shoot. Because the lens on the Polaroid 195 lacks a wide field of view, it would not have been suitable for an eclipse occurring high in the sky.
The images were captured from Castrillo de la Reina, Spain. The mountains visible beneath the eclipsed Sun are located in the Sabinares del Arlanza Nature Park, in the province of Burgos.
