Thousand Stars & a Million People

The night sky is photographed over the city of Cologne (Koln) and the Rhine river. About one million people live in the city and while light pollution, like most other major cities, wash away stars, there are still a number of them visible in the picture thanks to digital techniques and capabilities. © Bernd Proschold
