The Venus Loop

From the photographer: “In 2000-2001, I had photographed Venus trace a loop in the evening sky much like this one. This is possible, because Sun-Venus-Earth configurations repeat after every 8 days, as 13 Venus years very nearly equal 8 Earth years. So, Venus’ evening apparition in 2000-’01 repeated in 2008-’09, 2016-17 and in 2024-25, too.”
