Star Trails Above the Garab Spring

From the photographer: “Garab Spring is located 50 kilometers south of Mashhad, Iran, nestled in the crater of a volcano-like hill. It consists of twenty active springs, including several seasonal and dry springs, connected by an underground channel.  The spring originates from underground water sources and is rich in mineral salts, especially sulfur, chlorine, and sulfate.  These minerals prevent it from freezing in winter.

We were there for photography an hour before sunset on the 35th day of spring. The air was pleasant, the view of the surrounding green plains was complete, A few people swam in the water and left before sunset. My friend was busy with ground and aerial photography of the sunset. and I just watched – no camera, no phone, just observation.

There was significant light pollution to the north due to the proximity of the road. I turned the cameras west & south for night photography, and…”
