Description

From the photographer: “In the northern hemisphere, meteorological spring begins on 1 March each year. Just two days later, a large full moon appeared in the east. At a distance of 383395 km, the moon happened to be in a position known as libration west. This means that the moon showed us a little more of its western side than usual. On the same day, a total lunar eclipse took place at midday, which was not visible in Germany. Twenty minutes after sunset, an orange moon appeared above the small church in the village of Altefähr on the island of Rügen during the blue hour.

Secondary image: On 1 April 2026, twenty-two hours before the full moon, the moon—99.1% illuminated—set against the stunning backdrop of the World Heritage and Hanseatic city of Stralsund.”
