Description

The crescent Moon shines through the clouds over the Atlantic coastline of Brittany, France. Right at the horizon in the clear band below the clouds the head of Comet PanSTARRS (C/2011 L4) appears just before it sets. Click on the second photo to see a closer view of the comet at the horizon. From the photographer: “I was at the Pointe du Raz, the most famous Brittany western tip. Also a dangerous place due to strong ocean currents and shoals.”
