Petroglyph and Cygnus
Description
From the photographer: “The southwest United States is filled with intricate rock art, and in the Owens Valley a number of petroglyph sites can be found. This particular petroglyph is thought to be several thousand years old, possibly depicting an ancient lunar calendar.
In this photo, the northern constellation of Cygnus can be seen above the petroglyph, and the bright stars of Deneb, Vega and Altair form the Summer Triangle asterism.”
