Our Home Galaxy
Description
The central bulge of the Milky Way, our home galaxy, appears above a sea of clouds, as photographed from the 2400-meter top of La Palma, one of the Canary islands in the Atlantic Ocean, about 400 km off the coast of Africa. This is the site for a number of world-leading observatories.
