Observing Above the Clouds

A moonlit night at 2400 meter Roque de los Muchachos observatory in La Palma, one of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off Africa and a place for number of the world-leading observatories. The dome in this view houses the 10.4m Gran Tecan telescope, one of the world largest which received its first light in 2007.
