Description

Star trails in a long-exposure telephoto image of Devasthal, in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It is the highest peak in the region, a calm turbulence free place to install the current largest telescope in India. The area is surrounded by forests, dotted with small villages. Leopard sightings are common in the observatory campus. Click the second photo to see a day-time view of the mountain.
