Description

Night at the ancient capital of Lycia. The World Heritage Site of Xanthos, with more than 2500 years of history, illustrates the blending of Lycian traditions and Hellenic influence. It was a center of culture and commerce for the Lycians, and later for the Persians, Macedonians, Greeks, and Romans who in turn conquered the city. In present day the remains are near Kinik in Turkey. As noted by the photographer “The Roman basilica is to the right and Agora is to the left. The environment and the misty-cloudy sky were lit by the lights of modern town of Kinik east and south of the site.”
