My Glorious Sky

On the shores of the Gulf of Oman, several natural lights come together in a single scene. Along the beach, bioluminescent plankton illuminate the waves with a soft blue glow, while brilliant Venus shines above the horizon. Stretching diagonally across the sky is the zodiacal light—sunlight reflected by dust throughout the Solar System. Beside it rises the bright band of the Milky Way, whose countless stars and dark dust clouds lie thousands of light-years away.
