Description

The bright summer Milky Way from Scorpius and Sagittarius in the galactic bulge to the Summer Triangle (upper middle), and Cassiopeia (left) rises over rocks and sand pipe formations of Kodachrome Basin State Park in Utah, USA. Also notable in the sky are banded green patches which are airglow; natural emission of the Earth upper atmosphere which is generally faint in the visible lights. From the photographer: “The park was founded in the 1940’s when Kodachrome film came out. The name was applied to this park because of the vivid red rock pictures that came out of there.”
