M44 and Earthshine Moon

From the photographer: “The moon sickle rises above the fort on the island of Capo Passero. The silence is broken only by the lapping of the waves on the beach that stretches out in front of the small islet. Once again, the magic of the interaction of the moonlight with the lower layers of the atmosphere is repeated, tinging the horizon with a soft, warm orange light. Part of the Moon is directly illuminated by the Sun and part by our Earth, which reflects its rays onto our natural satellite, giving rise to the phenomenon of ashen light. Not far from the Moon, the constellation Cancer has recently arisen, in the center of which is the open cluster M44, which enriches the sky above our wonderful earth with its fascination.”
