Gathering of Planets from Portugal

This image is featured as the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for 2010 August 18.

From the photographer: “In the image you can see the triplet of the planets, Mars, Venus, Saturn and below, the Moon. The lovely scenery was obtained from a beach in Costa da Caparica, Almada, Portugal, facing the Atlantic Ocean. For coincidence, 2 people were enjoying the Moon and I had the luck to catch them perfectly aligned between the Crescent Moon.”
