Description

The total Lunar eclipse of 15 June 2011 as seen in the evening sky near Padua, Italy. At this longitude the eclipse was already started at moonrise. Padua, a prominent historic city in northern Italy, is also known to astronomy enthusiast as where Galileo spent some of the most important years of his life. In 1592, Galileo moved to the University of Padua, teaching geometry, mechanics, and astronomy until 1610, a year after he made his first telescope and the revolutionary observations.
