Description

The winter stars shine brightly above Buttermilk Boulders, a popular rock climbing area on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. A waxing crescent moon provides a contrast of light and shadow on the rock formations just before it sets behind the mountains to the west.

Single 25-second exposure at ISO 6400 and f3.5 (estimated)
