Description

From the photographer: “I went out again to capture the comet taking advantage of a completely clear sky and without the interference of the Moon. I live in Colonia del Sacramento, in front of Buenos Aires, so I drove 40 minutes to the east in order to avoid light pollution and find a dark sky on a country road.

In these conditions, the comet again stood out in the dark skies of the rural area of Colonia Department. As the Sun set, fireflies, typical of spring evenings, began to dot the field with their flashes. The image is a composite of many photos, capturing as many light bugs as possible to create a dreamy, artistic representation of what I saw.

To my surprise, from such a dark location (Bortle 3 according to lightpollutionmap.info) the comet is still visible to the naked eye—both its nucleus and part of its tail—using peripheral vision. With binoculars, it looks spectacular.”
