Comet Hale-Bopp over Mt. Sunflower

Following a bitter day of wind-driven snow and rain at the highest point in the state of Kansas (Mount Sunflower; elevation 1231 meters), the sky rapidly cleared at sunset, setting the stage for the Great Comet of 1997 to appear in all its glory.
