Description

Aurora borealis or the northern lights appear over Denali National Park in Interior Alaska, USA. On the lower left, Denali (Mount McKinley) towers above the other peaks. It is the highest mountain in North America that reaches 6,168 m (20,237 ft) above sea level. Click on the second image to see another photo of this scene. From the photographer: “I had only one clear night in two weeks across Alaska, but was extremely fortunate to have aurora activity that night, especially over Mt McKinley which is most of the time hides behind clouds that form around it (locally called Denali).”
