Arrival

From the photographer: “Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is only a few days from perihelion, and brightening rapidly. This image was taken just a few hours ago (at the time of posting), showing the beautiful comet and its tail, rising over the alpine Lake Pukaki in New Zealand. If the comet survives its journey around the Sun, it could put on an amazing show throughout October.”
