Description

In this nightscape view from La Palma, Canary Islands, the Milky Way shines beyond the passing clouds which are illuminated by yellow light of a downhill town at the coast. Fast moving low clouds are formed in the Caldera de la Taburiente, a 10-km wide crater (with walls tower 2000m over the caldera floor) which dominates the northern part of the island. The caldera originated some 2 million years ago with a massive shield volcano.
