Description

Stitched panorama of multiple frames. From the photographer: “The unique, terraced Badab-e Surt Springs are located at an elevation of 1,850 meters in the Alborz Mountains, near the village of Orost.

They are considered Iran’s second natural heritage site after Mount Damavand and the world’s second saltwater spring after Pamukkale in Turkey.

The water in these pools varies in color, smell, taste, and mineral composition. Their striking range of colors, from yellow to orange and red, along with tastes ranging from sour to salty and mineral compounds such as calcium carbonate and iron oxides, gives the springs their distinctive character.”
