Description

The 2016 annual Perseid meteor shower captured above the world-known Yosemite National Park in California. In this photo composite, showing the shower activity over several hours, meteors are caught on various frames of a photo sequence and their brightest are digitally added to a single base shot selected from the sequence. Orion is rising above the Half Dome and faint winter Milky Way and the zodiacal light are visible in this early morning of August. From the photographer: “From a total frame count of 921, I captured 42 meteors on frames but some 19 larger ones transferred here to one of my last frames of the sequence. Three of the meteors are obviously sporadic.” © Wally Pacholka
