Witness!
Description
Photo composite of multiple shots from a 7-hour timelapse sequence.
The Perseids meteor shower dazzled the heavenly skies of the beautiful Sultanate of Oman during the nights of 11th and 12th Aug 2021, with several admirers as its audience. This year, the moon was kind enough to set early (before 9pm) during both the peak nights of the Perseids downpour! Far away from city lights, the gorgeous dark sky of Oman lit up like a glossy black QLED screen, a perfect canvas for the comet’s debris to scintillate the sky with its incredible fireworks. The euphoric feeling of witnessing this spectacle is second to none! The breathtaking and hypnotic show went on until the break of dawn.
This wide angle image shows selected exposures during the shower’s peak night from one timelapse sequence. One can observe the planet Jupiter shining brightly in the top left corner of this image. If we direct our eyes a little lower ( at an angle of 45deg ) towards the right of Jupiter, we can spot the planet Saturn as well! The human present in this capture is one of the usual suspects in my captures; awestruck by the milky way galaxy every single time!
Also included is a single exposure image from the same sequence, that was witness to a moment where a meteor made a beautiful appearance between clouds and with the milky way core as its backdrop.
Exposure details: ISO 6400, f/2.8, 20 secs, 14mm ( Nikon D6 + 14-24mm f/2.8 )
