Winter stars over Linz

From the photographer: “The bright stars of the winter constellations rise over the city of Linz, Austria. The center of the city (~190,000 inhabitants) lies in a loop of the Danube river, which is best seen as a dark curving band near the left edge of this image. In the distance, plumes of smoke rise from the chemical and steel-industry plants, giving the impression that the city is on fire.” – © Herbert Raab
