Description

From the photographer: “Light clouds diffuse the light of stars and naturally emphasize the constellation Sagittarius near the setting Milky Way as lava and rocks are ejected from Volcán de Fuego (translates as Volcano of Fire) a stratovolcano in Guatemala. To get this background of Fuego with the Milky Way, I climbed to the summit of Volcan de Acatenango, another dormant volcano just north of Fuego. With my location at an elevation of 13,000ft, I was able to have a clear view of Fuego and waited for it to erupt in the early night with the constellation Saggitatius to the right-hand side of the frame along with the Milky Way, with the core already set. The speck of light at the volcano’s base are hikers returning on the trail from the Fuego viewpoint. Location of the camera: Acatenango Summit, Guatemala.”
