Description

A photo-mosaic of multiple shots. From the photographer: “A short time over a month has passed since the last time I tried to photograph the sickle moon near the Milky Way. I was at the Vendicari reserve and that time, went to the beach to film the event near the sea and the ancient trap. I was amazed by the play of reflections that were created on the marshes and I had promised myself to return to capture their beauty. I did not imagine it would happen shortly thereafter and yet it did. Thanks to the weather, the Vendicari area was the only really dark portion of Sicily with a cloud-free sky. Once again I was fascinated by the sensations offered by the place: by the scents of brackish water, by the smells of the trees on the path and by the light wind that blew without disturbing the waters of the ponds. I waited for the approach of dawn when the Milky Way would rise together with the first planet to show its light: Venus. Shortly after it was the turn of Mars and therefore of the ashy Moon which together shone in the sky and, consequently, on the waters embellished by the small twinkles of the stars. The Milky Way, meanwhile, stretched along the diagonal of the image, from Altair to the constellation of Scorpio visible, in its entirety, on the right above the lake reeds that grow in the edges of the marshes.”
