Description

From the photographer: “Seen here is the elevated pathway winding through fragile formations of eroding volcanic ash at the Painted Hills National Monument in Central Oregon. Mimicking a railroad grade, this provides visitors with an up close view without causing damage by foot traffic. The setting Milky Way appears as steam from the smokestack of an invisible ghost train.” – © Larry Andreasen
