Three Galaxies and Elephant Rock
Description
The Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds (our neighboring satellite galaxies) are photographed in a dark starry night of this rocky coastline near Flinders, Victoria, southeastern Australia. The rock in the lower middle of the image is known as the Elephant Rock. On the left side (east) of the view Scorpius is rising. The bright object along the central bulge of the galaxy is planet Venus in this early morning hour. See this view in a timelapse video. © Alex Cherney
