Description

The night sky is my second home…

In a winter moonlit night of Alborz Mountains, TWAN photographer Oshin Zakarian is imaging the starry sky above Mount Damavand, the highest volcano in the Middle East at top altitude of 5610 m. Notable in the sky from left to right: The rising winter constellations of Gemini and Orion; stars of constellation Eridanus above the rocky mountain; the Moon near the top and bright planet Venus just above the light dome of Metropolitan Tehran (some 70km away); a hint of the zodiacal light above Tehran light pollution and along the ecliptic; stars of Cygnus and a trace of the Milky Way at the upper right of the volcano.
