The Rising Red Moon

From the photographer: “I tried to catch up the significant conjunction of the Moon and Saturn on 20th March 2014 from Upice observatory, Czech republic. But I didn’t expect that the Moon is so bright even during its rising. So I just enjoyed the show of rising Moon itself and this is the result. It was amazing to watch, how the clouds above the point of rising Moon were brighter than the Moon itself. The Moon’s short wavelength part of light was completely scattered in atmosphere, but part of this short waves of moonlit spectrum was also scattered by the clouds, which unlike the molecules of atmosphere sent this light in my direction.”
