The Great Orion Nebula Above Mount Etna

The iconic nebula in the Earth sky, visible as a fuzzy star to naked eye and spectacular in telescopic photos, is captured with the erupting Mount Etna in southern Italy in a single exposure photograph of a few seconds using an astro-modified camera and an ultrafast 200mm telephoto lens at f2. The Orion Nebula is a giant hydrogen cloud and star-forming region some 1300 light years away in the Galaxy.
