The Gem of Winter

Stars of the constellation Canis Major, the Big Dog, appear over the moonlit winter landscape of Alborz Mountains in Iran. Sirius, the brightest star in the entire sky, is the gem of this view. At the distance of 8 light years away Sirius is in the galactic neighborhood of our sun.
