The Full Hunter's Moon over San Giovanni
Description
The Full Moon in October rises above the upper part of the city of Modica, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pictured here is the baroque church of San Giovanni Evangelista. Its spire represents he highest point of the city equal to 449 meters. The year of construction of this symbol of Modica dates back to the 12th century, but it was rebuilt in its current Baroque version after the terrible earthquake of 1693 that razed the city and much of south-eastern Sicily to the ground.
